Praying For Rain
Finished in December 2011 and composed for Jennifer Weiss, this piece draws its text from a voice mail message, as well as from Colum McCann's novel "Let The Great World Spin," Emerson's essay "Experience" and a short sound clip from the movie Into The Wild. The drums and all other sounds were recorded in my studio, with the exception of a piano loop from the Tori Amos song "Hey Jupiter" and the Gregorian chant.

The Ticking Is The Bomb
Finished in 2012, the text for this piece comes from Nick Flynn's book "The Ticking Is The Bomb" and Stephen King's short story "The Body". The form and many of the musical ideas are based on the same structure as Praying For Rain. The drums and all other sounds were recorded in my studio, with the exception of the opening guitar line, which is looped from Johnny Cash's cover of the Nine Inch Nails tune "Hurt".

Subterranean Homesick Blues
Composed in 2002, this was my first attempt at writing music to accompany dance. It was part of a concert adapting the music of Bob Dylan to a modern dance setting, written for the choreography of Beth McNeill. Written in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks and during the bombing of Afghanistan, it was recorded with the help of Mike Drost.

Manufacturing Consent
This piece was composed in the run up to the 2004 presidential election as part of a collaboration with dancer/choreographer Beth McNeill. Most of my 'compositions' are actually closer to sound scores that incorporate various loops, sound effects, and audio excerpts from other media forums such as movies, news and radio. The piece was inspired by the writings of Noam Chomsky.
